iPAD MINI VS iPAD
DIMENSIONS
The iPad mini has around 60% of screen area that the iPad has. The iPad mini is also a lot thinner, measuring up at 0.4 mm thinner than the iPhone 5. The iPad is taller and wider, but this is only because the iPad minis borders are noticeably thinner, as you can see in this picture.
WEIGHT
The iPad mini is very light compared to the iPad 4 (this isn’t its actual name, but it might as well be). It is half the weight of its bigger counterpart.

DISPLAY
Here is one of the bigger advantages for the iPad. Though the iPad minis 1024×768 should look very good in a 7.9-inch display, it’s nothing compared to the iPads 20148×1536, 9.7-inch display. The iPad has four times more pixels than the iPad mini, and has an extra 100 pixels in each inch.

PROCESSOR
This is another advantage for the iPad 4. It takes the iPhone 5s chip, and makes it quad-core, while the iPad mini takes the chip from the iPad 2. The iPad 2s chip speed was clocked at 1 GHz, which makes for a fair estimate for what the minis is. There have been rumours that the iPhone 5 has been clocked at 1.3 GHz, but none of these have been confirmed.

RAM
The iPad mini has a fair amount of RAM, and the iPad 4 retains the 1 GB of RAM from the iPad 3. Although the iPad mini has lots of RAM, the iPad has to win.

STORAGE
Some people predicted that Apple would release an 8 GB model that would be around AU$250, but Apple stuck with its usual choices.

CELLULAR AND WIRELESS
No surprises here, with both the iPad and iPad mini offering Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi and 3G.

CAMERA
The cameras are the same on both versions, and even though they both cannot compare to the top-end smartphones, they are pretty good for tablets.

BATTERY
The iPad has a much bigger battery, but because the iPad has to sustain four times the pixels, the battery life times pretty much even out.

CONCLUSION
The iPad mini is a worthy adversary, but as you can see, the iPad is just so much better. The only thing that the iPad mini is better than the iPad in is the Weight, which is fairly obviously a category that the mini has to win. The only reason that you should get the iPad mini, is if you need a smaller version of the iPad, and something that is cheaper. There is a pretty obvious winner here.
